How to choose the theme for paintings?

Theme for art painting

Paintings are a great way to decorate one’s room, office etc..But mere putting up of any painting is neither desirable nor recommended. Paintings should be carefully chosen as they reflect one’s personality in the most subtle manner. One should choose paintings keeping in mind one’s long-term liking and disliking.

While choosing a painting for your living room, think twice if that is the message you would want to convey to all your guest. There is no point in putting up paintings of wildlife if you love the beaches and not the forest.

Similarly, one should not put up abstract paintings only because it is gaining popularity over the world. It is absolutely fine to put up scenic landscapes instead.

For painters, starting a new painting, it should keep in mind what they really want to convey through their paintings first. All other conditions like color, texture, the canvas is secondary. One should be clear about the theme first. While choosing a theme, one must think of the preferred genre first.

If the painting is done for any special purpose then the theme of the occasion or purpose must be given utmost priority. Suppose the paintings are to be sold to schools then theme must ac comply with the school environment and cultures. Again of the painting is for corporate then it must be so themed that it is either inspirational, practical or matches with the company’s products.

While choosing a theme it is not necessary to look out for the current affairs. One can paint anything at his heart’s content. But simultaneous knowledge of happenings all over the world will give a painter more inspirations and ideas. Thus knowledge of other people’s works is important while deciding upon a theme.

Lastly, one must choose themes for their paintings based on the other available resources. If they are short of certain colors or materials that they aware would be necessary for the painting then they must think twice. A good planning is important before deciding upon any theme,
