  • Be sure to draw the horizon. The meeting point of water and the sky is very important. It will advisable to make it slightly convex. Remember water acts as a mirror to the sky. Keep the horizon high or low, depending on your focus- the sky or the water.
  • Use cool colors. Use tones of blue, violet to create contrast and pillowing.
  • Draw the right amount of foam. Neither too less nor too much. Limit it. Do not believe your naked eyes for it. Neither too less nor too much. Keep it subdued if possible.
  • Do not add sharp edges. Make sure that the foams and waves hot the rocks creating a softer edge. It will look more realistic.
  • Limit the rocks. Do not emphasize more on the rocks. Keep it simple. Give them a rugged look. A wet look will also be good.use skylight to give them wet look.
  • Colors like ultramarine blue, phthalo blue, permanent alizarin crimson, yellow oxide, titanium white etc. Phthalo green has powerful tinting strength.
